ELECTRICAL INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

Levstal is developing an electrical equipment programme for data centres, battery energy storage, renewable energy and industrial power distribution.

The objective is to combine our steel and modular manufacturing capabilities with electrical engineering, equipment supply and system integration through qualified technology partners.

LV Distribution Equipment

The planned low-voltage portfolio covers power distribution applications at:

  • 0.4 kV
  • 0.69 kV
  • 0.8 kV

Solutions under development include LV switchboards, distribution panels, power distribution modules and integrated LV sections for modular substations and data centre power systems.

MV Switchgear and RMU Solutions

The planned medium-voltage portfolio covers:

  • 6 kV
  • 10 kV
  • 20 kV
  • 24 kV
  • 33 kV
  • 36 kV

The programme is being developed around MV switchgear, ring main units (RMUs), protection sections and modular MV distribution systems.

Transformer Integration

Levstal is developing transformer integration solutions for modular power infrastructure.

The intended range covers approximately:

  • 250 kVA–5 MVA for standard distribution and modular applications
  • 1–10 MVA for BESS step-up applications
  • Up to 25 MVA and 36 kV for data centre and industrial power applications

The initial scope is intended to combine transformer technology from qualified suppliers with Levstal-manufactured enclosures, frames, skids, platforms and modular structures.

Any future expansion into transformer manufacturing will depend on completion of the required engineering, certification, testing and production-readiness processes.

Compact and Containerised Substations

Prefabricated substation solutions are being developed around combinations of:

  • MV switchgear or RMU
  • Transformer
  • LV distribution
  • Protection and control equipment
  • Steel enclosure or modular building
  • Cable connection areas
  • Cooling and ventilation interfaces
  • Access and maintenance systems

Integrated Power Modules

Prefabricated power modules can be developed around the electrical architecture of a specific data centre project.

Depending on the application, modules can accommodate MV switchgear, transformers, LV distribution, UPS equipment, batteries, busbar systems, protection and controls, as well as cooling and ventilation equipment.

FROM STEEL FABRICATION TO INTEGRATED MODULES

Levstal can support data centre projects at different levels of integration, depending on technical requirements and project responsibilities:

  1. Fabricated steel structures, frames and enclosures
  2. Mechanically assembled skids and modules
  3. Modules prepared for electrical and mechanical integration
  4. Integrated modules assembled with approved partner equipment
  5. Repeatable product platforms developed with the required testing and certification

The exact manufacturing and integration scope is agreed before quotation and production.

BUILT AROUND DATA CENTRE PROJECT INTERFACES

Data centre construction requires close coordination between structural steelwork, electrical infrastructure, cooling systems and equipment supplied by multiple manufacturers.

Before production, we review the available technical package to identify the interfaces that affect fabrication, assembly, transport and installation.

The review can cover:

  • Drawings, BIM models and equipment layouts
  • Static and dynamic loads
  • Equipment mounting and connection points
  • Electrical and mechanical interfaces
  • Installation and maintenance access
  • Dimensional tolerances
  • Welding and inspection requirements
  • Surface treatment and corrosion category
  • Module and transport dimensions
  • Lifting and delivery requirements
  • Manufacturing and quality documentation

Early coordination helps reduce interface issues during assembly and installation and makes the fabricated package easier to integrate into the wider data centre project.

SUPPORTING REPEATABLE DATA CENTRE DELIVERY

Large data centre developments are often delivered across several buildings, phases or locations.

Once a design has been approved, Levstal can manufacture repeatable steel assemblies and modular products across multiple production batches. This can include equipment frames, platforms, enclosures, electrical rooms, power modules and secondary steelwork.

Production and delivery sequences can be coordinated with the customer’s construction programme to support phased installation and repeatable project delivery.
